The thrilling extra-inning matchup that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate 51M watchers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

The full seven-match series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US viewership was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.
